Failure is a part of any success story, but we don't talk about it enough. We've all been to plenty of events where people tell you how they hacked, hustled, and created their success, but very few where someone gets up and says "I totally messed up, and this is what you can learn from it." F**kUp Nights is a global speaker series where stories of failed businesses and projects are told, questioned and celebrated. Each speaker is given 7 minutes and is able to use 10 images. After each speaker, there’s a Q&A session, as well as time for mingling, snacks and drinks!

Centre Stage: Data & Advanced Technologies Stage

Feed your brain

Tuesday, June 2, 2020 | 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Perimeter Institute

?text=IMAGE

Best for those who want to learn how to use data to create a strategic advantage.

Data is the new oil and the new asbestos. It represents both a great opportunity and, potentially, great harm. But those who choose to ignore data do so at their own peril. Studies show that organizations that excel at extracting value from data outperform their peers in revenue growth and profitability. To remain competitive, every organization needs to explore how they can best leverage data to their advantage.

At this stage, we will explore how to turn data-driven inspirations into action plans. You will learn how organizations currently use data to create their strategic advantage. And you will walk away armed with new skills and tools to start unlocking the value in your organization’s data.

Wednesday, June 3, 2020 | 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Centre In The Square

?text=IMAGE

For anyone who wants to examine what it means to be human—and humane—in our tech-driven world. Communitech’s Tech For Good Stage dives into key areas of concern for the community, companies and other stakeholders.

At the beginning of the True North journey, we started to explore the good, the bad and the unintended consequences of tech—as well as provide a forum for healthy conversation and intentional creation of a positive path forward. The outcome of these discussions is the Tech for Good Declaration hosted by the Rideau Hall Foundation.

In 2020, this conversation has never been more relevant - the need for dialogue never more necessary. Join us as we dig deeper, as we engage our community and examine what a technological future holds for humanity, and as we reaffirm our actionable commitment to tech for good.

We are less about the music you hear in elevators, except when we are hacking the speakers. Street noises and car horns can become sonic ingredients in large-scale urban performance art. We have hosted everything from 100 metronomes to Korean Pansori traditional opera to Treeorgans to epic Steve Reich performances. We hope you'll join us in experiencing, touching, exploring and listening to the very best of sound.
