Event Code of Conduct
The True North Festival powered by Communitech and the True North Centre Stage events bring the best entrepreneurs, innovators, and thought leaders to connect, learn and help shift the power and control of technology in the right direction. However, it is not a place for behaviour that is intentionally inappropriate, off-topic, disruptive, or abusive. Inappropriate behaviour is defined as any form of verbal, physical or written abuse, use of derogatory or discriminatory language, gestures or actions, any form of harassment, racism, sexism, or any other targeted comments which are intended to cause personal offense to another participant either in-person at an event or through social media channels, or the violation of any local, provincial, or federal laws.
At its discretion, Communitech may take action to address any individual(s) or group(s) it believes to have undertaken any inappropriate behaviour, as outlined above, including but not limited to cancelling event registration without a refund.
If you believe you have observed or are a victim of any of the inappropriate behaviours described above, please contact TrueNorthInfo@communitech.ca immediately. Reminder that notifying Communitech does not replace a notification to local law enforcement and Communitech’s process may not readily meet the immediate need under the circumstances. You should feel free to take the appropriate actions under the circumstances, including contacting emergency services by immediately dialing 9-1-1, and for non-emergencies, reaching out to the Waterloo Regional Police Department at (519) 653-7700.

True North Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Policy
Radio Frequency Identification (“RFID”) is technology that uses electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects. Communitech uses this technology in their Summit pass provided to you for all True North events. At the time of entry your True North Centre Stage pass will be used to validate your entry. Your pass does not store any of your personal information, including but not limited to your name, phone numbers, mailing address and email address (“Personal Information”), you provided to Communitech when you signed up for any True North Festival / True North Centre Stage event. However, the event pass does contain a distinctive code which Communitech associates with Personal Information you provided to Communitech at registration. This association allows Communitech to communicate with you at True North events you have signed up for.
To ensure your True North Centre Stage pass works properly, be sure not to bend or perforate any part of the Summit pass. Communitech reserves the right to check and scan your pass at any time.
If you require any further information or have questions regarding RFID technology at True North events please direct them to TrueNorthInfo@communitech.ca.
